This is an honor. Why alcohol for the last time I was on WB yet. War. Doctors had to be seven. And the and WB yen was was broadcasting -- like -- schools. From all across Western New York only appearance ever. On not on 930 WB yen and it's been a number years and it's sure good to be back and little did I ever jewelry. Growing up on the mean streets the lack wanna that I would ever have the opportunity and the chance to sit behind the legendary microphone. One sandy beach. You incredible. Growing up like many of you. -- -- the Sandia and KB review I have to use this morning as we start off this week and I am truly. Humbled. Well my name is -- parks and those of people in the radio industry may know me as a talk show host and basically -- made the last 35 years in my area. My career my working life as as a radio station manager and in a radio consultant but. Unlike many -- carpetbaggers. That will come through western new York and come to buffalo at least a year to order a radio station. And may -- stay a year or two at a at a TV station I'm a native. I'm from Western New York. From the Steel City and progress -- of lack -- senior high school on up on mark wrote in like -- long and also a graduate of both state hell I was even born and mercy hospital. Himself well so. The first error I I took a breath was buffalo where in the first drink the water was from late theory. -- all lifelong like many of you a lifelong suffering Buffalo Bills fan who who cried. When they made the for a for super bull and sob when that the kick went wide right. And this morning it's an honor truly an honor to be filling in for for sandy beach you're in between -- -- that's why am. And now let's get under the topic speak yesterday. Putting together the show -- they -- myself Marbury talked about to talk about the -- stadium. We could talk about the bills ownership change what else is going on in buffalo and and as I as I started to put together the show. I than the news came across across warriors came across a social media. That that Malaysian on flight was shot down over or -- And you know it's one of those one of those things where yours you scratch your head and you just realize. -- live in such a dangerous world. I've made this comparison with with airlines. And airline pilots. Because I'll explain this comment in a few minutes. But there are very few. Careers. There were very few occupations. Where you won't put yourself in the hands of an individual. And -- really have no idea. -- their qualifications. Are. Last summer a plane crashed in crashed in San Francisco this plane obviously being shot down so it's an apples and oranges comparison when their plane crashed. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon sunny skies temperature about 65 degrees. And of visibility in San Francisco tends ten maybe fifteen miles. It is bad pilots. Because they were depending upon they're looking out the window as it turned out and realizing. They were low. And that's why they hit that wall and landed short on that runway in San Francisco. In buffalo and over years ago. You have the Colgan Air flight thirty for a stuff. When I first heard the news about that. And I first heard of which way the nose of the plane. Which point -- which was opposite of the runway. My first thought I have a friend that's an aviation and if I -- fought applying myself. And my first comment was it was a flat -- The plane came down. Because a pilot year. What's going to be pore over it. One of the causes. Of this plane being shot now. Yesterday. This pilot error. Over the last. Number of weeks. -- that war zone. Planes flying that -- Mostly we're taking a southerner we're. In fact this very fort. The days before. Yesterday. The planes were taking a -- about two to 300 miles self. A word this plane. Was shot down. The original plane was where it was. Because of weather. Not only that this plane was flying at 33000. Feet. Planes were war. Not to fly any lower. Than 32000. Feet. This -- it was about a thousand. A thousand feet above. That warning altitude. What's going to be proven is that an accident. There was. The thought was it was a military plane. But steadily. 298. People. Were slaughtered. And you have to ask the question why. Mr. -- buffalo. Western New York upstate New York. Were insulated. Were insulated from. From the violence in the killings of wars all across all across the world. Wars fought over ethnicity that have been going on four. For thousands. And thousands of years. War is fought over religion. Being fought for thousands and thousands of years. Wars being fought for political reasons. Wars being fought over borders. Wars being fought. Over oil. And so often when we hear stories. What this -- being shot down. We struggle. We absolutely. Struggle. To answer a simple question. And that simple question of why. 298 innocent people. Killed -- no -- yesterday. A passenger -- Blown up and it's not the first time a passenger jet has been blown up. It happened in the eighties. For the Soviet Union blow up a Korean Eritrea. The United States. The American military. Blew up a passenger jet over the Persian gulf. When you're still reading what's happening. In that area where that plane crashed and I'm sure many of you watching the news last night or. Or surfing the Internet this morning. Seeing the video the plane crashing. So what Heather camera. Someone had their iPhone. And shot video. Of that plane hitting camera. There's a military officer. You start thinking about. Your mission. You realize your target is to story. And then you have people. Knowing people. We're on a place where our military or or civilian. You know people. Were on that point. You see any explosion. You're watching it on a computer screen you're watching it you're watching the radar. If you're outside you see the fire ball. When that missile. Hit that point. You see the black smoke. You see the plane hit -- round. And what's the first thing you do. In today's world. But first thing you do. Is send out a -- That's what happened. A militia commander. Sent out a -- We warned you. Do not liner guy. Social media today. Tends to make us all to us. Extremely. Callous. About what is going on. In our well. It's happening in America. Happening in Canada. It's happening in Europe which happened happening that no matter where you point the finger. On a globe. It's almost like. All playing some big video game. And it doesn't matter if 298. People. We're slaughter. It's not real. Not real. At all. Or sensibilities. Are common sense. Almost doesn't seem in existence any longer. That point frankly is a little shocking. It truly -- And you have to wonder how we got to this point. -- How have we become so careless. How have we become -- so removed. Then after shooting down a civilian passenger jet. With hundreds of people. With children. -- -- The first thing you do would you grab your rifle. The first thing you do. This point. Sadly it's not a reflection on Americans any longer. Nor is -- a reflection upon a western nations. It's a reflection upon. Every one. Death has no meaning any longer. No meaning. At all. -- part is filling in for sandy beach today it's 40 minutes after 9 o'clock a wonderful weekend. Ahead. We'll check out the AccuWeather forecast next 930 WB yet. Whoever's responsible. Where it will be viewed and now we thought it was a military -- it turned out to be civilian. But the thing that just keeps keeps gnawing at me is Warner. People have lost their there they're human decency and sensibilities. Or after or something or whether it was military whether it was civilian. You have lost a human life in the first thing that happens. A person responsible. Possibly the person for whipping the switch to launch that missile the first thing it doesn't grab -- by opponents of -- God told them not to fly over this area. People think we're living in a world of sort of like the matrix you know we're living in this computer world this fantasy world we're living in this. This whole parole hold a video game world. We've lost her sensibilities. Jennifer Lancaster home of the Redskins -- around 930 WB here. Yes there'll footballer or local all news and notes on the radio who calls you do much in this. You're you're from Cincinnati sort wish that -- even -- well -- now. Now wait a minute you have let me tell you last last year. I went to the bill Cincinnati game and I had on a buffalo bills' ability. I stood and cheered for the Buffalo Bills -- -- lost to the bag over and over. Warrior or brave man a is that the end zone through already Europe subject though with you know reason though they obviously. You know poignant ship down and what was today's contemporary you're thinking culture. Well you're right we've lost sensibility. Discussed yes. What it's not surprising. War and violence -- been around sin so Cain and able and so we is human beings -- history and transcended all the time. It is our religion is innocent people control and hearing died by reason of being either in the wrong place. Provide personal choice. I mean so we did such -- there are some question about. But it does go bear to which you were saying -- terrorism disposing of these thinking coaches you would think this. We hear more sensibility. -- You know in war and there are. You know everybody's everybody is. Did this series or -- you know off. We're the an opponent even as the -- and you're just sit and be aware of the originates in -- -- -- -- who use. Value. Gym yesterday I was I was right after the news of the world I was talking to an individual that I know what that is that was career military is is going on to another quarter Korea after your retired from the military. But he was -- And he was in the army and and I forgot what he called but he was. What he was on these these these teams that were with the use these anti aircraft missiles and he said he had to go. Through training and it was constant training. Where are for lack of a better way of putting -- there -- flash cards. And there were that there were hundreds and hundreds of these flash cards. And that the training. That the training was. That due to their superiors. Would which is gravel and then they would play and what these flash cards and they had to identify the aircraft. And if they didn't identify the aircraft they had to go back to training and it was interesting after we had this conversation. He came into my office and he sat in my desk and it looked like what a packet cart's point. And it it was the bill heart soared to these are just different different your aircraft -- and day and Dana was you know from side view off top to bottom view. Front back view these these aircraft and they had to identify its. Now this plane obviously the you know wherever I was on the ground wherever wherever affordable missile or a team that ever that border the missile at 33000. Feet. You're not going to be able to tell what type of plane that one's it's an impossible -- -- just thought in your backyard in Lancaster. And -- looked up and watch a plane that's flying maybe from New York City to Detroit right you know it's a flying over buffalo. And it you're not going to be able to tell what type of aircraft and it's. But he was he was questioning this and how how that how. Do people. Into how they're a team. In he's -- no matter what the military years how would they are a team that. And he couldn't get a tourist head into how do they accidentally. Fire a missile like this and take down a civilian -- Well you're you're you're giving an example of a person who obviously -- Very strong willed his thinking as well and you're exercising training did he is going through. You think it's possible live in police thinking culture. And we don't hold your hand and our technology. There we don't really use their minds as well and in Detroit -- we make of everything we do every day is an exercise in our choices. So because so he kind of their technology. Where iPods and iphones and -- and doing all the saw the stock. And we don't really exercise their mind in an independent way that we you really need to do so we -- you know insensitive who you actually. Tricky these bitter campaigning today -- won't continue to happen. You know Jeremy Avery -- -- point I made mention of the other crash of that that airplane in that airliner and in San Francisco last. And I know -- a delta pilot that happens to be and deploy international routes in the patent this and months ago said to me. He said you know I haven't landed the plane. In years. To put the plane is alarming is that it lands. By itself. And your -- and and your point and -- crash that happened in in San Francisco. I fly a little bit private pilot and you are taught on a few had ever gone through polite -- lessons. You're -- wonder if that's the whole thing the most difficult part applying his land you know you can take off on the first loss. You could fly -- coordinated turns its its fairly simple with very intuitive for personal war. Bought one ends up happening is you become -- -- depended upon -- especially in these automated planes you become very dependent upon the controls. And what happened was in that San Francisco crash last summer. It was very simple -- ever walked out the window. That's why that plane was sold 10 if they -- walked out the window. They -- noticed they were low and they were given the plane powering the plane would land it's. But it didn't it's as simple as that which you just said about you know Andy but it's an excellent perspective on your part there what if. You know why didn't think about it people in any situation and what -- -- potential situation what if well we don't take time to think about being -- it is an exercise. -- have yourself a wonderful were. All right. Good talking to you to or greater for you from. -- to -- used -- -- Fifteen in front at 10 o'clock this is 930 W beat you end. 930 WB EN I'm -- -- in four. For sandy beach honored to be here as we head into the week and another wonderful weekend in in western new York -- of that plane being shot down the Ukraine yesterday. We're slightly. A militant military missile took it out and this was not a shoulder fired missile that took this plane this point on it was a now it was say a missile. That took a team. Of people to to launch. It took a team of people that had. That had done that the expertise. And minister was radar based. Brian. And unfortunately we -- the world -- people think they're playing video games all the time now. An impact our military in America and we have to draw owns and or flying the drones from some more misery. Or wherever they may be. And flying these drones on the other side of the planet. Give you some some bought this is from eyewitness. Accounts of the people that were there. Will this plane went down in Ukraine. Yesterday this is what they saw. Body parts every war. A woman in a black sweater. Weighing on her black are bad blood streaming from her face. Who left arm raised. As if signaling for someone. Another victim naked except the black rock. Laying enough laying in the field. For gray hair mixing with the green grass. One leg broken. In her body -- A young boy. But ten years old weighing on aside. A right teacher. -- that don't panic. Many other victims. Still strapped into their receipts. One man. Having justice -- The rest of his close. Tore off. His right arm placed on -- stomach. As if he were being. There's that you were being wait. Another young man about twelve years old and blue shorts wearing red Nike sneakers. Still clutching his article. Yesterday as this news borrow it just so happened that that Vladimir Putin the president of rusher was on the -- With our president Barack Obama. Shortly thereafter Barack Obama. Made comments. In Delaware. About the strength. Special report I'm -- Barrett President Obama is in Wilmington Delaware. About to speak at the port of Wilmington he was scheduled to discuss infrastructure issues but. -- -- talk about the downing likely of the Malaysia flight seventeen that's 777 jet en route from Amsterdam to -- a month or brought down over eastern Ukraine. Apparently shot down by a missile 295 people on board. Seen no sign of life mr. Obama now speaking in willing. You -- -- a little sick. Sick. It is wonderful to be back in Delaware. Before again. Obviously the world is watching reports. Of downed passenger jet did Russia and Ukraine border. And it looks like it may be a terrible tragedy. Right now we're working determine. Whether there were American citizens on board. That is our first priority and I've directed my national security team to stay in close contact. With the Ukrainian government. The United States will offer any assistance we can't help determine what happened and why. And as a country are. Thoughts and prayers -- all the cameras passengers wherever they call. I want to thank. Jeremy for that introduction. And it goes on the start talking about Germany's left in Germany a big round of applause. Everyone let's give Jeremy a big round of applause. Clicked in the state that Davis Joseph Biden. We actually got them better look and why were there let's hear today. When I'm making jokes. That is red meat for talk radio topics. And honestly I don't normally do this on talk shows. -- We no longer have any politicians. That are statesman. In the 1980s. The Soviet Union shot down -- a Korean air Jumbo jet. That Jumbo jet story and -- -- so -- airspace. Hundreds of people were killed instantaneously. This -- top president Ronald Reagan. Dealt with -- -- fellow Americans. I'm coming before you tonight about the Korean airline massacre. The attack but the Soviet Union against 269. Innocent men women and children aboard an unarmed Korean passenger plane. This crime against humanity must never be forgotten here or throughout the world. Let me state as plainly as I can. There was absolutely no justification. Either illegal or immoral for what the Soviets did spike the savagery of their crime. The universal reaction against it and the evidence of their complicity. The Soviets still refused to tell the truth. They have persistently refused to would admit that their pilot fired on the Korean aircraft. Indeed they -- not even told their own people. That a plane was shot down they -- indeed but in their conflicting and misleading protestations. The Soviets reveal that yes shooting down a plane even -- with hundreds of innocent men women children and babies. Is that part of their normal procedure. If that plane is and what they claim as their airspace. They -- the world an apology. Letterman. -- a big talker why isn't he talking about hello George Bush and vice president. That's speech went on obviously. A lot longer than the few minutes we just played. But it's an example of how our society is change. And not for the better and I hate to reminisce about the good old days if I'm not doing that. But it's a reflection. A true reflection. On what we're tolerating today. What you're tolerating today. When it comes to politicians. When it comes to people you vote for it doesn't matter. Matters not. At what level -- going to be Gary Condit could be the city of buffalo. Annika -- New York State could be the federal government it doesn't matter. A few seconds. This guy knew I -- Obama knew how many people were slaughtered on the airplane. -- 298 people died at. Then mattered. Then matter at all. Eight or. Update. Treated all of joke Biden here. Today. You mean his handlers. His handlers. Could naturalize them. Brutal plant won a little bit. 10 o'clock. I'm Gerald parks and for sandy beach and this is news radio 930 WP PS.
