OK I suddenly feel vindicated. You know. Have you ever been in a position where -- tell people something that you have seen or heard it and they think you work crazy. I've found myself in that position recently. You remember back three months ago I told you I was at the end of my driveway at night and I heard. Boom boom and folks pretty keep tabs on the birds in our neighborhood and I've never heard an all in our neighborhood before. And my neighbor so -- -- government should have the best neighbors in the world. They are obviously their despair the nicest people ever -- -- also in the birds and wildlife. And I said this so did you hear the Powell if she said. Yes I did but only for that one night. So it's I think it's I think some thought that she was losing that I thought I would lose and yet we both confirmed that we heard the whole. The same night and I'm looking at the a channel four website and hear it it's not we out all spotted at sites across Western New York. Now I don't know for a fact it was this hole but what other birdies dumb enough to be here it's their goal. Joining us right now WB and as the attorney for assemblyman Dennis average act was under great deal of fire right now including from. Andrew Cuomo. And Sheldon Silver Terry Connors medical care or should you stay with Terrence. The only political -- is my mother that's phenomenal out of trouble. All right well I'll call you out. Terry can you give us an update on we're Dennis his head is right now on whether or not he is going to retained his office. I can't. You know the assembly has very specific rules about these types of allegations. They convene an ethics committee to have a -- in that process is already in place. We've spoken to the chair of that committee and it's likely that that will take place during the month of January. So right now and that's where his head is it's looking forward to that type of the hearing where he has a chance to explain. These allegations to -- currently and -- stuff the foremost thing in his mind right now. Colleagues I'm sorry -- but I've been around politicians and politics in my life too much. To be -- you as to think that some of Dennis is colleagues have probably done far worse than the allegations. Unproven by the way that have been made against that -- average. Does he plan on fighting back with everything he's got. Well it's documented that there had been in the -- established allegations against other members that are. Far more egregious than what he's he's been charged with in this particular situation so. I think you know there's that there's just documented precedent here so that ought to be appropriate for them to consider. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I think the first thing I would do is go on the offensive against any reporter who wanted to put me on the spot and say how many times this year and your husband. I mean that I would just basically beat that's the way that's the way I fight you know is just like you're gonna call me out for some decisions I've made the call you out I was blessed that he got behind the -- -- Has also been around enough media people to know that too many of those people drink and drive way too much. Now I know that every attorney is perfect. You are expropriated from India monologue on this so he's gonna wait until the -- how do you prove that he didn't do these things. When you know the point dismayed that was an important point -- because. Beckel feel like -- will be Korea UV anyone else in the spotlight. For years these allegations expand -- to save their -- you never say anything that you regret that you wanna take that. But it doesn't make it. Sexual harassment doesn't make. Violation of any of our our ethics and in criminal laws. So I think that's going to be part of the analysis as well it's not as simple design or resign it's not that. I don't think so either and and that we're talking with Terry Connors he's the attorney for Dennis -- Jack. -- for how long life have you. Well so late now -- taking -- slow steady. Okay we'll go because this is the first a statement I'm hearing you know with a -- It's you know flesh and bone to -- where should they flesh and muscle to it about this issue and wanna find out where are your rejects your -- isn't you know you're absolutely right. Anybody in public life is going to say things that come out the wrong way. That are taken out of context or that are ignorant and sometimes in my case just plain stupid. In my experience Terry is that if you were honest with people about. What you are doing -- about how you screwed up in about how genuinely badly you feel about it and you're gonna try better next time most people Terry I've found have been very forgiving and I'm very honest and open about my personal life because you know what. I never want to have somebody say all we have a picture view taking it isn't in Jamaica epic feel like -- all the time LL sell anyway your thoughts on that. Well nobody did it here to the standard protection system possible but the reason he's been out on the airwaves or you know in the media. Expressing his opinion that's respectable these allegations that that we understand that others coming there are other people are going to make statements. This week and next week and tell you get a complete understanding of what they're actually saying what these. Charges -- with these allegations are at least -- it comes forward and just start to think. Franklin. There's an opportunity for that and that's any hearing -- rules provide for so we will surprise with the governor who. -- actively involved in the creation of these rules decided that due process doesn't apply to assembly members. Well I would also argue that there is a tinge of politics. In this at least in my mind Terry because in my mind. Dennis average act is disposable right now of people like Cuomo and Sheldon Silver because he comes from a safe Democrat assembly district he also was against and -- safe which is the governor's up that little baby he -- in his arms so -- went against -- -- -- and I think that up. A part of this at least stems from people saying well -- that -- every Jack will get a good little Democrat in there who will do exactly what king Andrew wants us to do. Well we're looking to connect to political -- as well companies that there's always an undercurrent that. Well I absolutely I know how this game is played and you know mr. and mrs. John Q public do not understand the politics is blood sport. And that they will. Attempt to crash and silenced and have fired the people who don't get along with the program when they are regarded as a threat. Now can you tell us and again I realize you're the attorney for Dennis average actor -- always so much you can say and frankly there's only so much Dennis can say right now. At least the public because of the allegations that have been made against him which are you know civil litigation against me he's got to be careful about what he says. In public but. As far as the physical or alleged physical evidence of this alleged behavior of that -- average -- can you either confirm or deny. That a video of simulated oral sex was sent to anybody it does a copy of that video exist if it. You know we haven't seen anything that we -- for that. We've asked for that from the other side -- we haven't seen anything of that. Okay now when you say the other side that would have to be given to you in discovery correct. That's right to exist it would have to be provided during the course of discovery by. He I think you probably understand this that and I don't know also allied militias would understand affected there's no. Okay has actually been filed against him civilly it's a notice of intention to file a -- That means they have another year to decide whether they wanna file a lawsuit and so from that standpoint there's no formal process that would allow us to get this kind of discovered. Well we're talk military Connors is the attorney for Dennis ever Jack who is not get a resigned today he's not gonna resign tomorrow he's not gonna resign he is going to go through. The ethics committee investigation. Is it that is that is the story. That's taking place extent. Being put in place right now I spoke to the chair of the committee today. But what I've just said is correct he is not going to resign. Before this committee. Investigate and -- both sides. -- Okay now arguing with Telus because one of the things -- about public life is. You know there there's the old joke that I can't tell on the year but you know I -- -- million buildings politically said the builder I gave a million to charity difficulty said the philanthropist but blank one little blank and suddenly -- the -- It's funny old joke and I know you've heard it. How is he. How is that it's holding up because this is the time when you find out who your friends are and who the people who will just suck often view. And I don't mean as a double entendre by the way only for the good times. Where he couldn't stated better if it's true that the people who are the two friends have called him for support and there are a number of them. Constituents grateful for the efforts on this on their behalf and those people have reached out to them but right now it's primarily his family and his close friends that are who want to provide support for. You know the allegations I've seen Terry and you know this like a generational thing I think that you're maybe a little bit older than at fifty you know Dennis is older than I am. But you know some of those males in a week up at a certain air okay. And and -- -- -- their guilt or innocence here but I do think that there has been a major paradigm shift and I know that that is a total Jewish waffle expression but. You know the the younger man today. I think are a lot more in tune with sexual harassment in the workplace and certainly the young women today. Are more in tune with what could be construed as sexual harassment in the workplace than people like IA were people like you. Or you know people of our could the chronological -- Well that's certainly been a greater emphasis on and I think everyone would agree that's a good thing it's. Emphasis with respect. Rules. -- -- right -- right there it's an evolving culture that's changed over the years. And there are some that it's easier to -- culture it's it's unavoidable. But you know what this is not an -- if everything -- allegedly did happened and I'm not saying it did or did but. You know it sounds to me more like a crude attempt at humor and I'm guilty of that myself. That it does of genuine harassment as in so I consider sexual harassment more along the lines of hey -- you sleep with me you lose your job and I've actually intervene as somebody's been happily work in Florida they got the got fired who told one of the people who -- workplace exactly those words he packed his bags later that day and left the station. But it's constantly like. Dennis may have kind of a warped by hourly kind of sense of humor but the people who were younger who were female didn't get it or which is just. -- -- offended by it. Well I think that's part of the analysis as well is this banter that was welcome were unwelcome did have he would participate in the -- They've developed during the course of the three or four years. That's important to understand it's just these allegations go back to three or four years ago. And -- at a time when people continue to work 34 years without completes -- well so I think and that's important the place in that context. I think it's equally important that is no allegation that it was. Any sexual contact whatsoever. And I think those are importance. Starting points for these analysts. And you know -- honest and up with my audience to -- actually tell them that I'm not perfect and I can be a real able. And you know it and I try to be very circumspect about the history. And I wanna talk with you more about this -- Connors is the attorney for assemblyman Dennis Garrett rejects and guests ladies and gentlemen you do hear -- -- a -- -- cannot call myself a conservative because I'm not like a moral majority kind of person. But a more conservative Terry. I worship god in my own way I would never wanna push anybody to worship. God in in by way. And -- very fiscally responsible my -- credit score that reflects that but in terms of personal. Our shortcomings or peccadilloes. Or errors in judgment you know the the the Romans there's all the Latin expression -- to Latin. But basically goes nobody ever became a rotten bastard overnight. Generally if you are rotten bastard you've been one for a few years not just for four years so hold -- -- -- gonna continue with his and I think this is the first extended interview he's done. On this topic which I think is important let's find out about traffic and Steve its extensive or not yours Alan Harris. And we have -- so that is forecast for tonight into the overnight to anywhere from three to twelve inches I don't throw all the warnings we have but really it's in the old days -- just say it's winter and it's snowing in some spots to be careful on the snow and remember that with the temperatures being as quickly as they are outside that any road treatment equal work so make sure you look out for black -- please I don't let anybody get -- tonight and dress warmly if you're gonna spend any time outside. So there Ager you know I'm being a popular being like your uncle here or your obnoxious father who you know you can be fifty years old we still call Wednesday. You have straitjacket -- Because that's what we do is -- It out Gerri I'm not gonna give it to the name but you're gonna know exactly what I'm talking about here. Many years ago there is a very prominent individual. From the legal system who. It's something that was rather. Ill advised at a public park. And I would constantly. Go after him for that. And I wanna tell you that since then. I realized that I was wrong I should have been more circumspect in realizing. That all of us have shortcomings. All of us have things that we do and maybe we don't understand ourselves why we did them. But this individual and talking about did not resign he was reelected. And by the way and I know this from other lawyers I know is very well regarded in the legal community as an absolutely brilliant legal mind who is a very responsible person. You know it's like -- that one character flaw it could destroy them but he didn't allow it to. He was a wonderful client in my. -- -- you reach out to me he's -- did you did you back off and I think there's some resistance but I did back off and I'm glad I get. Because. You know I'm geez I'm not perfect you're not for nobody's perfect. -- let's just move on if if we could. A little bit is your advice to Dennis. That he not make any public statements that could backfire in court of course he wouldn't be under -- talking to the media. It's absolutely because in this situation given the fact that eight. We haven't seen all the allegations yet there may be others that they are telling us they're coming forward how do you how -- you know -- -- -- -- that. And frankly -- some of these allegations taken out of context may have some truth but they may not constitute sexual harassment they may not constitute. Hostile work environments -- under these circumstances. It doesn't help them to get into a specific yes I said that no I didn't do that yes I did do that. That's what -- have a hearing for that's what you have cross examination for and that's the basis for -- telling him -- let's get back. Let's wait and be patient and ultimately have a chance tell -- story. You know as I look at the allegations. And again what I understand about sexual harassment. Litigation and law is that a lot of it. Is really the feelings of or the interpretation. Of the alleged victim. If the alleged victim feels uncomfortable by law it is a hostile work environment. Well it is tested need sufficient standard as well it can't be someone who was over sensitive to over react to certain. Statements after the it has to finally it sufficiently to stand approved as well so I think it's you know it's it's a combination of both subjective and objective. But again you know we get back to when -- talked about earlier it's it's almost impossible to prove a negative you know Tom what the last time you -- Tyler -- I'd ever punched him I mean but then when that fought us up here suddenly I'm violent toward my coworkers. Yeah well that's part of the problem with these kind of allegations I mean there's there's an issue that makes it. A little bit. I'm a moving target slipped and called by some of the commentators and some of the judicial decisions. Just -- time for another two minutes with -- before I take the break Erica make it up in the its revenues or not. Okay we're gonna have two minutes Terry. When I read these allegations my interpretation. Again I've not seen any of the -- any more than you have my interpretation is that. As it stands right now I think Dennis may have a buy hourly sick sense of humor and he may give vent to it. At inappropriate times in front of the wrong people. And I don't think that is something if these charges are true for which you should resign office -- I think you need to be retrained yes -- -- you need to quit no. Well you know I think that that's. That's a fair reading of what I've seen so far as well that's a fair reading of -- ultimately you know that'll have to be decided. Through the ethics committee -- civil litigation. In -- Terry I want to thank you for joining us for the extended interview is there anything you wanted to say about this and must be frustrating hearing all these stories and reading all these stories in the paper without being -- respond because there's a lawsuit may be filed against united -- your client. Everything that you wanna say on davis' behalf of last year. Well it is and I think that they can cause for the reaction this evening is that. You know when the governor had said its candidate -- -- -- that just is in the simplest I think. One of the things we can't choose who can't ignore do process of law which which we can do for political officials can't do for judges who can do for lawyers are people who -- the media. You have to follow the rule of law and it's it's a mistake to try to shortcut that because we also offer. Gaga -- something to you know from what I've heard the last person who ought to be offering advice on relationships is Andrew Cuomo. And I don't think I wanna go any further in that but that what's that mr. glass house. Anyway yeah I can hear you have in the background you've heard the same thanks. -- and Terry Allen thank you very much for joining us and you know I bet you never thought you'd hear me in a position of defending a a Democrat but I'm trying to be more circumspect about these things as I gain the knowledge and the wisdom and the understanding that none of us are perfect. And that sometimes. When somebody goes through something like this the emerge a better person. Yeah. All right -- Terry thank you every much and glad you called and I appreciate your time. Terry Connors is the attorney for a dentist -- -- and that folks I know some of your disappointed -- me because I have not crucified than it's -- And I got -- if I thought he should be right now I would but I am not. And quite the contrary I know it's up all the time a WB yen. -- -- That -- show this is this is supposed to be your -- -- -- showed. Anyway I want a bigger budget back at a drunken people singing all my time and I think they're just acting in that anyway it was just appropriate. Or is it to me he's just not a big deal. And I don't -- to be like the anti party -- but it's just -- you know. The hardest thing about the New Year's remember to put 14 at the end of the date and you checks instead of the 13 so I usually pre dates of my checks its -- make that dumb mistake yes some bills I still -- by mail. Like national fuel I setup an electronic payment plan with national fuel right. And an accused accounts and I tried setting up another one and it's what you've already got a electronic account -- -- -- -- -- its -- and it just. It is having gotten around making it the official yet that that anyway I wanna thank you guys for being ripped. Me and with us at WBE. And excuse me and you drive all were getting ready to get out and I have some fun. I believe me folks. It is is never I don't take for granted and never have taken for granted. What it's like to be able to do talk radio. For over thirty years in my home town and still be relatively young men IE. Do not ever take the connection we have for granted and I know that there are times some callers can be. People I don't like and that I get an argument. And sometimes there's. Things that I may say that you say I used to like you Tom and I don't like you anymore and and that comes with the territory. But. Haven't had a chance to do a significant amount of traveling in and listening. During age of the Internet to other radio stations. I really believe this I believe this was true. -- two -- the nine to New Hampshire. -- this is about you guys as. It was. I always felt like we had this special bond. And now after. Over many months suspended two in the afternoon show which are really wasn't throw the I know that we have that -- and it's. I think what it goes back to. Is longevity. I think what it goes back to is the fact that you. And WBA and and IA and sandy beach you know we'd been. Part of your lives for so long. That. It's almost like in some weird way were almost family many of us. And in fact. Some of -- may actually be fit the album by the minute but but now it it. Believe me just just that you know I don't take for granted I never really never have and there are maybe five days a year I come into work. And -- like. -- -- But I think that's pretty good all things being considered I think that's a pretty good position in which define oneself so. Anyway thanks for continuing to hang out with me I try to give you good content and try to make you laugh what today. Try to make you learn something new once a week and you know I try to understand that just because -- microphone it doesn't make me Jesus. Sometimes I succeed in understanding. But getting back to the dentist average actor interview and I that it would with Terry Connors. One of the things that I think we've all found out in life. In what relation -- the year doing no matter what you do for a living how you live your life. At some point. You are going to come across a chasm. You're going to come across. The crisis. That. Will determine for you. Who your real friends are. And who were the people who only wanna be with you for the good times. There's a huge if you or friends will support you and help you. Even when the rest of the world is convinced you were the worst human being ever born. Your friends are the ones who stand by your side. This week. Without going into any details. My friendship with somebody have talked a lot about on the air. Was solidified. Very very deeply. And he did some things from me bad. I really. There's just no possible way -- can ever pay him back with money or with works but this individual is a very honorable man and I would do the same forgot. And that's friendship. Now when it comes to -- average. We're not friends mean its -- ever ever been to dinner and drink with a and the like while no definitely not those things other -- -- have ever met Dennis. Maybe in Albany but I I just don't remember we just happen to have a family with which were pulled close. But what I'm seeing is a guy. This happened to me once so maybe that's what got a little more empathy were Dennis then maybe you guys feel comfortable where most of my family. You know there buying everything the reading in the media and I'm trying to explain to them that. Politicians. By nature. Tend to have a certain personality type and one of the features of a political person is they have a very high libido. You can't -- in the business without. A sense of ego and with ego will often you'll often see a very high sex drive for both men and women. You know vicious personality traits that just seem to go hand in hand. Now what I see these allegations against that is average. All I can think -- is oh okay. But what else was going on in the background. What what is the context year. And it seems to me that. Depending on what else comes out in terms of actual evidence. Other allegations. It seems to me that the worst I could convict -- average active right now. Is having my sense of humor and the inappropriate in its application. I would not have been offended by what that's got rejected allegedly. I would elapsed. Because I have that six cents a humor. It's and before you start judging by a sense of humor plays up evidence six cents a uber. Is probably one of the reasons I'm here today because without that sixth sense of humor there are few times where. You know I just thought seriously about to get it in my car it is driving and ending up were brave and an up and to start and everything all over again but I haven't done that. And Shakespeare once said misery makes sport to mock itself. So. I appreciate being able -- even when the times there are rough and bad. Now. There is an appropriate time. And an appropriate place for everything. And folks I've learned over the years -- I'm gonna confess up. What is -- the -- of celebrity can well I've not had a lesbian relationship I haven't had one of those with my massage therapist but I'm willing to work. But. There have been times. And again I'm a public figure that's been my life. There are times when I have also made inappropriate jokes in the workplace. In front of women. I've been at this business a long time. And I got to tell you something to that point goes the other way. There have been times women have made inappropriate jokes were touching of -- The difference is I don't mind I don't get offended by I laugh because I've got -- sixth sense that you. Okay. But keep in mind it's a generational thing. And I'm not trying to say that -- Is -- say it because he's not nobody on the but. You have to understand folks those of you were younger those of you were maybe 35 and under. Your workplace. Is different -- the workplace. We're. Those of us were a certain age worked when we were in our twenties. It's a -- their role in hopefully. A more. Accommodating and less threatening place for you young people in particular younger women in which to work. Because there was -- time. And I lived through those times were men really work sexually harassing women -- getting. -- I'm not a hero for doing this folks. But I told the story before and I'll tell you the story again I worked in Florida. There is demand there was in management. He told somebody. That unless she slept with him she was going to lose your job. Now this guy had a notorious reputation. But nobody would ever say anything. Except. -- Immediately after talking to this girl who was in tears. I went to the general manager. And I told him what I just been told because I felt it was my duty I will read on people when I think something is. Ridiculous. But. I in my opinion he crossed the line. And I have no sexual relationship at this moment. Didn't -- one. Wasn't tried for one but I tried to do the right thing even in my twenties. Now. Keep in mind he wasn't making jokes he wasn't being inappropriately. Attempting -- funny. He basically said you either do this to my way or -- fire you. That's wrong. And I'm glad that the workplace has changed. Folks you'll be surprised at the number of women with whom I've worked over the years who have grab me. -- jokingly I've never felt threatened or intimidated. You'd be surprised at the number of people with whom I've worked. Who have by given -- -- shots over the years. It happened it was the old days of radio the workplace yours and mine have changed considerably and I think it's for the better. Because -- Young women young man should not be in position. At their tender ages of going in. To a workplace. Not really going their way around the world. And dealing with somebody who is perceived as powerful. And having to worry about the old honor being violent. So I applaud the changes that have taken place. At the same time. What I would ask of you younger people. And keep in mind and a very young fifty -- -- like twelve girls. But what I would ask of you younger people is just some understanding of the fact that we grew up in a different era. All right and believe me. I steps and things. Two women here at the workplace or other places at the workplace that were inappropriate and offensive in an attempt to be humorous. I don't do that anymore. I don't I learned I learned from experience. So if Dennis did these things. And in this is all he's accused do. Then you go to training. You read. Configure your brain understanding. There's a difference between your outside friends and what you can say they're verses York work where preference. And it's a generational thing folks and I I want asked the older guys understand that the younger people will not put up with the crap they used to put up. At the same time you're younger people there's a way to handle things when somebody makes you feel uncomfortable. And when if somebody were companies that -- what you said. That was cut on the line and I want to back off a little I respect. That's something our respect and I always will honor. But I just try to -- folks on the output in the sainthood and -- -- average. But in terms of being inappropriately. Attempting -- funny in the workplace. Of the on the same thing. I mean. I've never asked the woman to look at a computer with bigger picture allegedly but times have changed folks the culture is changed in some guys. Just you know -- a little bit behind the times. I've changed my it is possible to teach. A leopard or an old dog new tricks I've got to breaks -- -- is in charge that's got to be nectar under Israeli and at thirty WB Ian. I guess its hourly you know certainly if it -- I -- so long with Terry Connors and I would be out of the show little bit earlier than I usually am today. And I really wanted to find help for you guys what was the best thing and the worst thing happening here in 23 today. If you wanna give me a quickie feel free and if you don't understand that. -- quickly you know phone call. I sometimes they say things and because of my reputation I don't even even that way and make -- out that way. Sometimes I think that it's a good morning to somebody it would be sexually -- 803 on my thirty the phone numbers start 930 on the cellphone. If -- it's a great happened to your help spread the wealth spread the good news and if you didn't have something great you can call and bring us all down. I may have time. Then again it might not -- but. One of the things that I would suggest. If I may be so bold as to make the suggestion. One of the things that I think it's been a real positive this year. He is. Being. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- It is trying to be. A better person with whom -- have tried that now for several years. And the rewards have been incalculable. It's just it's amazing. At the workforce and I'm still not perfect I don't claim to -- But -- a little bit of trying to understand the other guy -- the other lady can go a long way. And I'm gonna get called out here I do this call is coming damn you damn you. Here's David on WB GN -- David I've made in this statement during the earlier part of the show. And you are here to call me out on being a total heard so. And you and you compound it in this statement by following it up with -- with a little bragging about your rights you. Yeah that was just how wrong that was. Let you know what I'm gonna say yes Phil Collins and Philip Bailey did easy lover I don't think -- Caribbean queen had anything to do it. Well that back here basically guys Billy Ocean. And you're right Fella you know what I just got an email on that and I just thank the guy for correcting me and I was gonna say it before the end of the show you beat me to it. Well did witnessed that bureaucracy earthquake he had figured I'd give it a call. Well I like to end at 23 team basically being called out as a complete and total knob and surf mission accomplished. Eight. I'm laughing -- you're damn right. Well we already know you're now. Thank you. Fred thank you I appreciate it. Yes he's he's absolutely right Phillip Bailey did the duet with Phil Collins she's an easy lover I thought it was Billy Ocean because we just played the -- oceans. But -- that has some good news.
